Stone Countertops Made Simple
Choosing a new stone countertop is one of the most exciting upgrades you can make to a home — but it can also feel overwhelming. At Capital Stone, we’ve refined every step of the process to make it smooth, transparent, and enjoyable.
We service all types of projects, from kitchen remodels and bathroom upgrades to building a new home from the ground up, across the entire Upstate New York area — from Albany to Lake George. Here’s what you can expect:
1. Choosing Your Stone
First, we’ll help you select the ideal countertop material for your lifestyle, design goals, and budget. Our team will walk you through a wide range of stone including:
- Granite
- Quartzite
- Marble
- Soapstone
- Engineered Quartz
During your visit, we’ll discuss your design style, cabinet colors, finishes, and overall layout to ensure your chosen material fits your space perfectly.
2. Templating for a Perfect Fit
Once your stone is selected, your project is added to our schedule for templating. Our team will contact you to confirm a date that works best.
During this appointment, our fabricators will review key details such as:
- Edge profile
- Sink type and placement
- Overhangs
- Faucet layout
- Seam locations
- Backsplash preferences
This precise template becomes the blueprint for your new countertop, ensuring a seamless fit.
3. Fabrication
With measurements finalized, your slab moves into fabrication — where craftsmanship and technology meet.
Here’s what happens behind the scenes:
- Your template is carefully laid out on the slab to highlight the stone’s best features
- Veining, grain direction, and unique characteristics are taken into account
- The slab is cut to your exact dimensions using precision equipment
- Edges are shaped and polished according to your selected profile
Every piece is then inspected to ensure the highest quality before it leaves our shop.
4. Installation Day
This is where your project truly comes to life.
During installation, our team will:
- Level each section
- Seam the countertop as needed
- Mount sinks and prepare cooktop cutouts*
- Seal natural stone surfaces (granite, marble, quartzite, soapstone)
- Clean and polish every area for a flawless finish
*Please note: We cannot reconnect plumbing or hook up cooktops, as these require licensed professionals.
5. Enjoy Your Countertops
We encourage you to review your new surfaces and ask any questions — especially regarding long-term care and maintenance. Please avoid placing items on your countertops until the next day to allow adhesives to fully cure.
Once installation is complete, it’s time to enjoy your beautiful countertops! Our office will reach out within the next day or two to ensure you’re fully satisfied with the results.
