More Durable than Granite

Quartzite is a sandstone that was subjected to intense pressure and heat. While sandstone is relatively fragile, quartzite is extremely hard (tougher than granite), and will not scratch as easy as marble. Although quartzite is extremely durable the presence of calcium in the stone makes this material more susceptible to etching. With this in mind we recommend installing quartzite in a honed or leathered finish to help it age gracefully.

Quartzite countertops are significantly less porous than marble which will help protect the countertop from staining. It is recommended to seal a quartzite countertop periodically. Sealing is an easy process that takes very little time or effort. A sealed quartzite countertop can be easily cleaned using soap and water and will stay beautiful for as long as you own it.
